The extraordinary scenes in Paris on Wednesday night weren’t just limited to the pitch, with Neymar’s father reportedly trying to fight Manchester United legend Eric Cantona in the stands.
United became the first team to overturn a 2-0 first-leg home defeat in the Champions League, winning 3-1 against PSG in the French capital thanks to a controversial stoppage-time penalty.
Emotions were running high afterwards and, according to RMC Sport, Cantona and his friends enraged Neymar’s box with their provocative celebrations and taunts, putting their finger to their mouths and ‘ssshing’ them.
By this point the injured Brazilian had already moved down to the touchline to try and cheer on his stunned teammates, but the rest of his box were furious with the gestures and insults aimed at them.
Dani Alves and Marquinhos both had friends in the box too, but it was Neymar’s Dad who was most annoyed, believing Cantona and his crew were disrespecting his son and PSG.

He hurdled the fence of his box and went over to confront Cantona and his pals. After initially starting to walk away, Cantona’s best mate aimed one last jibe that saw Neymar senior turn around and push him.
Security finally intervened and stopped the altercation from escalating any further, with Neymar senior making his way back to his own box.
It was one of several instances of bad blood after the full-time whistle, with PSG unhappy with United’s over-zealous celebrations and particularly the singing and dancing of Patrice Evra in the tunnel entrance.
Cantona, meanwhile, had been in a bullish mood throughout the night, claiming beforehand that his old club would ‘eat the Parisians like I eat frogs’ and, after his altercation with Neymar’s camp, visited the victorious dressing room to join the celebrations before departing the Parc des Princes.
