The agent of Inter Milan’s Andrei Radu has claimed that Arsenal are interested in signing the goalkeeper this summer.

Though Radu has only made one first-team appearance for Inter, the promising 22-year-old has caught Arsenal’s attention after impressing on loan at Genoa this past season.

Radu is technically tied into a contract with Genoa until 2021, but Inter have a buyback clause in their deal and can recall the Romanian early if they wish to do so.

However, with Petr Cech calling time on his playing career, north London has emerged as a potential destination for Radu ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

According to Radu’s agent, Crescenzo Cecere, the Gunners have initiated contact over a possible transfer move.

‘The player is from Genoa and has a contract with them for another two years,’ Crescenzo Cecere, told FCInterNews.

‘Inter has a right to recall him and if they want to exercise it, it will depend only on them, and we’ll listen to them.

‘There are so many teams interested, including Lyon.

‘Recently, there was also an enquiry from Arsenal. He is a very interesting prospect since he is growing a lot, from all points of view.’

Radu was one of the standout players in an otherwise dismal season for Genoa, keeping six clean sheets in 33 league appearances, as the club narrowly avoided relegation.

Unai Emery is looking for a top-class goalkeeper to provide competition for Bernd Leno and Markus Schubert is another player on Arsenal’s radar.

Schubert is a free agent after his contract at Dynamo Dresden came to an end this summer.

Dynamo Dresden sporting director Ralf Minge said: ‘Unfortunately, we have not been able to persuade this talented goalkeeper and his advisers over the past 12 months with our arguments to extend the expiring contract.

‘It feels like a defeat when you train as a club player for almost ten years and then lose him at the very beginning of his professional career.’
